The President leads the executive branch, enforcing federal law, commanding the armed forces, and conducting foreign policy — supported by the Vice President, Cabinet, 15 executive departments, and the Presidential Corporate Advisory Board.
Executing the Laws of the Nation
Article II of the Constitution vests executive power in the President of the United States. The President serves a four-year term, is limited to two terms by the 22nd Amendment, and is elected through the Electoral College.
The executive branch employs roughly 4 million civilian and military personnel and is responsible for implementing and enforcing the laws written by Congress, managing foreign relations, and commanding the military.
The Cabinet — composed of the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments — advises the President and oversees the day-to-day administration of federal policy.
